The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences combines a long history of excellence in teaching and research, with state-of-the-art facilities in the largest custom-built Sport and Exercise Sciences building in the UK. In 1946, we started the first non-vocational Sports degree in the UK. In 1985 the current School was founded. The world famous exercise physiologist  Bengt Saltin advised us to link a strength in research to stimulating and exciting education programmes. We today are proud to be at the international forefront of the rapid development of this academic discipline not only in sport but also in shaping the way society sees the relationship between health, exercise and life-long well-being. We wish potential undergraduate students, postgraduate students, research collaborators and funders and all members of the public with an interest in our School welcome to this website and look forward to your first visit to our new home.
